History Tales to feature Alice Alexander’s new book “West of the Elwha”

The Clallam County Historical Society’s annual meeting and History Tales
presentation will take place on Sunday, June 5, at 2:30 p.m. at the
First United Methodist Church, 110 East 7th Street, Port Angeles. Parking and
entry to the church’s social hall are on Laurel Street.

Local author Alice Alexander, whose great-grandfather was a homesteader on
the Upper Elwha, will be presenting a power point presentation on the Lyre River
and Gettysburg area. She will be selling and signing her new book, “West of the
Elwha,” which covers Port Crescent, Joyce, Freshwater Bay, Twin, Ramapo,
Eden Valley and Lake Sutherland . She has been working on this latest book for
two years, and her husband helped with the Port Crescent chapter.
If you have purchased one of her books already, please bring it along; and she
will be happy to sign it. The book is for sale at Odyssey Book Shop, Port Book
and News, Olympic Stationers, Jim’s Pharmacy, the Clallam County Historical
Society and the Joyce Museum.

As part of its annual meeting, The Historical Society will induct new board
members and officers, and the winners of the Heritage Award will be announced.
Refreshments will be served.

This will be the last History Tales presentation for the season; the next series will
begin in October.
